TRAINING

Our university curriculum emphasizes Job Site Safety, Quality Assurance, Employee Involvement, Individual Education Tracks, Hand Tool Operations, Waste Reduction, Schedule Attainment and Cost Reduction.

SYNERGY STEEL UNIVERSITY

Synergy Steel has an underlying philosophy that with well-trained employees, we are the best light gauge steel wall/floor/roof pre-construction planning, manufacturer, and installer in the commercial and residential building industry.

All Synergy Steel Employees undergo a 60-day training certification program before deployment to the field. Training topics include a blend of techniques from the following: 7 Habits, 7 C’s and High-Performance Teams, OSHA and Safety Conscience Work Environment, 6S, Lean Manufacturing, Lean Construction, Manufacturing Principles, Panel and Truss Fabrication, and Sheathing and Window Installation. Additional classroom work includes Reading Blueprints, and Shop Drawing and understanding proper Personal Protective Equipment.  Once all classroom training is complete, employees create teams and proceed outdoors, assembling and disassembling 10 to 15 different structures as individuals and teams on our 11-acre campus. We are proud of our graduates and the dedication each one puts into his or her success.

Synergy Steel University’s curriculum developed to address a diverse group of participants.  We encourage a team approach to safety, planning, manufacturing, and installation.  We focus on safety from multiple angles. Using human performance tools – such as self-check, stop when unsure, pre-job-briefs, and being our brother’s keeper – emphasizes our team approach and that those we train are important as individuals as well as team members.  Synergy Steel recognized a long time ago that an organized and well managed work environment assures a safe, consistent and profitable build. This philosophy and training blended with Lean Techniques, has led to a perfect OSHA record, lower liability insurance costs, 100% schedule adherence, and less wasted time and materials, while keeping our team safe.

Another important aspect of this training program and build philosophy is management and open communication. Construction Managers are trained in conflict mediation with a core emphasis on team building and team communication. If a team member has a question or runs into an issue, they are educated to work with management toward a resolution.  This approach allows for both gaining the experience from the positive outcome, and avoiding mistakes that may occur in more “improvisational” solutions.  Synergy Steel University provides management with training and techniques to assist all employees  with understanding the proper interpretation of blueprints and plans, focusing on proper planning and attention to detail.

All team members are trained in job site safety and the required personal protective equipment (PPE) during the training process, as well as in the field. Our on-site management is responsible for understanding the specific site requirements, communication of these requirements, and adherence on the part of the team.
