Synergy Steel’s technology, design, and engineering firm, Syntech is currently seeking a talented and ambitious individual to manage an exciting and rapidly growing team.
The VDC Manager works directly with project teams to oversee deliverables from project start-up through design and handoff to Manufacturing and Construction. This position is responsible for planning, executing, and closing out all client deliverables through the utilization of Revit and BIM, at the Division level.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute Project Specific BIM plans
- Develop and manage project schedule templates from project start through design and deliverables of each project
- Manage weekly milestone task achievements and adherence to process
- Document and report weekly project schedule updates, deliverables, changes, and adjustments to Senior Management
- Interact with Pre-Construction Managers, Project teams, and Clients to communicate project details, timelines, and changes
- Manage BIM process throughout preconstruction, design, and construction.
- Coordination of the design and estimating team members for all project deliverables
- Manage modeling for performance and documentation for quantity take-off reports to be utilized for supporting the Estimating Dept.
- Analyze models provided by internal and external team members to ensure they meet project specifications and adjust for internal use in Estimating and Construction Operations
- Create and manage content library files and templates.
- Create, manage, and enforce company drawing standards.
- Manage each team’s development of Revit models for adherence to project specifications throughout the preconstruction and design process
- Assist in supply chain assessments and project specific reports
- Assist in training new team members on processes, programs, and standards
- Manage / create educational and training presentation material and /or visual aids
- Manage team models to support Manufacturing and Construction Operations
- Review / manage Scope of Work and coordination of Architects, Engineers, and other trade partners
- QA / QC all project deliverables prior to release
- Coordinate team QA/QC field walks to ensure field installations match coordinated models
- Record and manage team project information for historical data and Continuous Improvement Reports
- Coordinate and Maintain software needs:
- Coordinate with IT manager the selection of BIM software products, including but not limited to licensing compliance, incorporating new version releases, maintaining legacy software, and customizing software for specific firm needs
- Manage the implementation of supporting software and plug-ins for BIM
- Evaluate new BIM related software and technologies
- Stay informed on best practices for use of Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM
- Stay informed on other BIM related software products and their interaction with Revit
- Continued education of software use and program updates
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management
- 2+ years direct BIM/VDC Management responsibilities required
- 3+ years of experience in the Construction Design required
- 2+ Experience in Construction Operations a plus
- Proficiency with Autodesk Revit Suite, AutoCAD, and BIM is required
- Advanced knowledge of Windows, and Microsoft Office is required
- Experience with PlanSwift, MWF are a plus
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Ability to teach / train others in the use of time productively, maximizing efficiency, and ability to meet challenging work goals
- Ability to coordinate with other Divisional team managers
- Experience with coordinating trades is a plus
- Ability to take on additional responsibilities as needed
